Painted Bunting

Jeff Lewis photographed this bunting that appears to be female Painted Bunting on 9 May 2009 at Manteo, North Carolina.

Jeff comments "At first glance the bird did not appear to be green but I am leaning toward Painted rather than Indigo due to a little bit of green in the plumage, plus the culmen appears fairly curved to me. The belly was yellow but the breast appears somewhat streaked, like an Indigo. Almost like a hybrid. I guess it's just a young female."
