American Woodcock

Taylor Piephoff photographed this American Woodcock nest on 18 Feb 2007 in eastern Mecklenburg County, NC. This nest was discovered 10 Feb, and had a clutch of 3 eggs then. Unfortunately, when the bird flushed off the nest it apparently abandoned it. There was no sign of any adults around when the photographs were taken.
