Bald Eagle

Don Faulkner photographed this Bald Eagle as it captured an American Coot on 1 Feb 2008 at Santee Coastal Reserve, South Carolina. This attack was observed by some 40 participants on a field trip at the CBC Winter meeting. The defense used by the coots was forming a tight group and making a lot of noise and flapping their wings. As soon as some of the coots ran for it, the eagle made its move and easily caught one.
