John Fussell photographed this Common Murre on 3 Apr 2008. The bird has a puncture wound and was picked up on the beach at Emerald Isle on 1 April and brought into a wildlife shelter west of Morehead City. There is only one accepted previous record of Common Murre in North Carolina, three accepted records in South Carolina.
