Hooded Warbler and Yellow Warbler

Jeff Lewis photographed this Hooded Warbler on 13 Sept 2007 and this Yellow Warbler on 14 Sept 2007 in his yard in Manteo, North Carolina. These photos provide a nice comparison of two species that might sometimes be confused. Both have a large dark eye on a plain yellow face. Only the Yellow Warbler shows yellow edging on remiges and rectrices; it's also shorter-tailed, shows a hint of streaking on the breast, and has less color contrast between underparts and upperparts.
