Northern Saw-whet Owl

Alan Kneidel photographed this Northern Saw-whet Owl on 22 May 2007 in Transylvania County, North Carolina, at about 2800 feet in a mountain laurel thicket in between Hw. 64 and Hw. 215. Alan reports "To my best knowledge, this is almost 2000 feet below where they are typically found in the summer."
