Semipalmated Sandpiper

Steve Kilpatrick photographed this Semipalmated Sandpiper on 27 May 2010 at Edisto Beach, South Carolina. This was one of thousands of Semipalmateds along the beach eating Horseshoe Crab eggs. Steve suggests that the object in the bird's bill is a Horseshoe Crab egg.
