Don Faulkner photographed this Willet on 30 Jan 2008 at Hunting Island, South Carolina. The Willet was eating barnacles on a dead tree on the beach. Each time a wave came in, the Willet had to open its wings to maintain its balance. After a number of tries, Don was able to capture the Willet with its wings open.
