Hickory Hill
From CBCWiki
[edit] Description
The Hickory Hill boat ramp on Falls Lake can be of particular interest to birders in the late summer and early fall when the water level of the lake drops enough to permit the formation of mud flats. Various species of waders and shorebirds can be seen from the shore, though not always at a close distance.
[edit] Getting There
Traveling north on interstate 85 out of Durham (NC), take Redwood Road south. Turn left at the sign for Hickory Hill.
[edit] Caveats
- Mud flats tend to form at some distance from the lake shore; a kayak, canoe, or telescope may be useful for getting close views of the birds.
