Cooper's Hawk

Jeff Lewis photographed this Cooper's Hawk on 26 July 2009 in Southern Shores, North Carolina.

The bird was photographed through a house window. It appears to be in Prebasic I molt, transitioning between juvenal and adult plumage at about a year of age. Jeff judged it to be a female because of the size compared to the Blue Jays that were scolding her.
